Hello and welcome to the Art Therapy Friday Page. This page is facilitated by a mental health peer support volunteer. Every Friday an art therapy prompt will be posted to inspire those interested to create a piece of art with the intention of working through anything that is negatively impacting their psyche.

Get creative! Use any media you prefer–painting, drawing, sculpture–use your imagination! Along with the prompt, an example of a completed piece for that prompt will be posted. The admin of this page prefers to draw in a sketch book with gel ink pens.

Special thanks goes out to Chris Lombardo, the Certified Art Therapy Facilitator, who gave me the Art Therapy prompt handout lists; from which, I was inspired to share this content.

All are welcome to post their pieces, finished or otherwise. If the artist feels comfortable, they may share their thoughts on the piece they created–the what, where, when, why, and how that went into their work of art.

Any discussion is required to be compassionate and respectful. Everyone has differing opinions. That being said, if a discussion appears to be escalating into something unpleasant, please, be responsible adults and agree to disagree.

Please refrain from offering unsolicited advice. Unless someone specifically asks, please, let everyone figure their own paths out for themselves. As Jordan B Peterson has said, “Don’t steal other people’s problems.” Give others the opportunity to come up with their own solutions. This results in a sense of autonomy and accomplishment.

Let this be a welcoming community. Let’s celebrate each other’s victories and achievements!
