People are often insecure, petty,
and malicious;
They can do that waaaaay over there.
If you are kind, People
may take advantage of you
Set boundaries and enforce them.
If you are successful,
lazy people will resent you
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank,
narcissists will deflect and project it back onto you
Be honest and frank anyway.
If you are intelligent, skilled, talented, and creative,
unmotivated people will find you annoying
Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness,
there may be cyber-stalkers and trolls;
Scroll happily past them.
The good you do today,
people will often gaslight you about;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough nor reciprocated;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway, even if there is no mutuality.
You see, in the final analysis,
it is between you and your future self—your greatest version;
It was never between you and them anyway.
