No one survives suicide. Using others’ pain for sympathy is wrong. Hashtag campaigns are criticized in the song “Virtue Signals.” The author, connected to several suicides, rejects the “survivor” label. They condemn seeking sympathy for others’ pain and share a disturbing experience with a family member’s manipulation.
Nobody survives suicide! They may survive an attempt. No one says, “I’m a cancer survivor,” when your dad drops dead from cancer. There are no My Dad Died of Cancer Support Groups. That’s called a Grief Support Group. You all need to just STOP IT! Your once-a-year hashtag campaigns are disgusting. So much so that I wrote this song: Virtue Signals
I’ve NEVER called myself a suicide survivor, even though, there were 4 men connected to my family who killed themselves in my lifetime, and 5 of my coworkers killed themselves. I’ve never gone to support groups to get sympathy by using someone else’s pain. However, my sister does and when the 3 suicides that were connected to her got stale, she tried to push me into taking my own life; so, she’d have a fresh one to get the hugs for herself that I should have received while I was alive.
