Reviving Community Values

From Selfishness to Selflessness

Explore the shift from selflessness to selfishness in society and the call to revive community values through collective responsibility.

The excerpt reflects on the shift in societal mindset from selflessness to selfishness, emphasizing the importance of individual contributions to community growth. It critiques modern attitudes focused on personal gain and highlights a deterioration of true community values. The author calls for a revival of the mindset exemplified by Kennedy to rekindle collective responsibility and compassion.

Please, bring the Kennedy mindset back

“Ask not what your Country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your Country.”

This sentence meant more than it’s surface value, back in the day. It was a mindset held by the majority of people that any person, entity, or guiding principle could be applied in the placeholder word, “Country”. Meaning, whomever or whatever you valued, your focus was on what you could give toward the advancement of, rather than how much you could get away with taking from it before it was all gone.

Today, the world’s population has become degenerated and devolved into the opposite. Everyone is, “How much can I get for myself before it’s all gone? How much can I get away with before I get caught?” And, anyone who has a problem with that, is perceived as having the problem.

We live in a ‘toddler mindset’ world now. Mature, individual autonomy has turned into “Me, me, me, mine, mine, mine, give it to me and give it to me for free!” And, these ‘toddlers’ prop themselves up by forming ‘communities’ of ‘like-minded’ people. In reality, these are gangs and cults.

Community is more than just survival of the group and, if need be, defense from outsiders who seek to harm the group. The true function, meaning, and value of community is the growth and betterment of the whole via compassion and support of the individuals within AND, by virtue of that growth and betterment, a ripple-effect of growth and betterment of all outside the local community into the larger community and on and on, the positive affects rippling outward.

Today, community means, “Us against the World” and attacks on everything that is not you and your ‘community’. There is nothing but negativity rippling outward.

What people of today have forgotten is, that outward ripple-effect also had a ‘boomerang’ effect—what flowed out, flowed back. This mindset was for the growth and betterment of all…and it was working!

The change came about so subtly, no one can really pinpoint when; but, we sure do know the what…governmental power. And, it’s main drive is to hide ‘agenda’ with distraction—the distraction of continually emphasizing our differences, especially, when we begin to notice we have more in common with each other than we have differences.

The boomerang effect is becoming more and more obvious as and hate toward each other escalates. The result is apparent to those who still hold the ‘old’ values: and of everything anyone holds dear.

The only hope this individual sees is to bring the Kennedy mindset back AND for us ALL to have his back to protect him from the fate of his ancestors.
